Why it is here

This is the one we hand people first. In the Classic revision Grado folded the SR125 and SR225 into it, so the SR80 now gets F cushions and a padded headstrap that used to cost another hundred dollars, and the crowded middle of the line is simply gone. It is fast and forward and completely honest about the recording, which means thin recordings sound thin. Buy the SR60 if you want something a little gentler for long sessions, and buy something closed if you share a room, because this leaks in both directions and everyone will hear your music.
How it is built

44mm X2 dynamic driver with a Mylar diaphragm, copper voice coil and rare earth magnet system. Die-injection molded housing, padded synthetic headstrap over a steel spring band, F cushions, fixed Bronze cable. Assembled by hand in Brooklyn.

A first serious headphone, desk listening in a room you have to yourself, and anyone who would rather hear what is on the record than a smoothed version of it.
