Refund policy
Everything we sell, we sell ourselves, so a return comes back to us rather than to somebody else's warehouse.
New gear. Thirty days from delivery. Open it and listen properly, because nobody can judge a headphone in ten minutes in a shop. Send it back with everything it came with and we will refund the purchase price. Return shipping is yours unless the item was faulty or we sent the wrong thing.
Special orders. A few things the maker builds or ships only when you order them, and won't take back, so neither can we. The product page says Special order before you pay. You can cancel for a full refund until we place the order with the maker. After that it can't be returned, though if it arrives faulty or isn't what you ordered, we put it right.
Used and consigned gear. Thirty days from delivery. Send it back in the condition it left in and we will refund the purchase price. Return shipping is yours unless the unit was not as described, in which case it is ours, including the shipping both ways. The window is the same as for new gear on purpose. We photograph every used unit in detail before it ships, so both of us can see what left here, which is what makes a longer window safe to offer on a one of one.
The condition scale is published in full at the condition scale, so "as described" means something you can hold us to rather than something we get to decide after the fact. If you think a unit was graded wrongly, say so and show us. We would rather be told.
Cables we build. We sell these two ways and they carry different terms. Which one you are buying is stated on the product page before you pay.
In stock cables. Standard lengths and terminations, where the product page shows one ready to ship. Same return as everything else here: thirty days from delivery, for any reason, including that you listened and did not like it. Send it back unused in its original packaging, you pay the return shipping, we refund the full purchase price. No restocking fee.
Made to order cables. A length we do not stock, a connector that is not in the list, or anything built to a spec you gave us. These are final sale. We cannot put a seven and a half foot cable with a 4-pin XLR on one end and a Pentaconn on the other back on the shelf for anyone else, so we do not take it back because you changed your mind.
Two things go with that. You can cancel a made to order cable for a full refund any time before we start building it, and we email you when the build starts so you always know where you stand. And every made to order cable ships within thirty days, usually inside two weeks. If we are going to miss that, we will write to you with a new date before the date passes, and you can take the new date or cancel for a full refund.
If the cable is faulty, none of that applies to you. In stock or made to order, if it fails, arrives damaged, or is not what you ordered, tell us. We repair it, replace it or refund it, and we pay the shipping both ways. That holds for thirty days on anything we build, and in practice we will usually just fix it after that too.
If your needs change later, we would rather re-terminate or re-length a cable than have it sit in a drawer. Write to us. You pay for parts and bench time, not a new cable.
How to start one. Email hello@sonictempleaudio.com with your order number and what happened. Do not send anything back before you hear from us, because we need to tell you where it is going and how to pack it.
When you get the money. Once the unit arrives and we have checked it, the refund goes back to the original payment method. Your bank decides how quickly it appears, and that is usually a few business days and occasionally longer.
What we cannot take back. Gift cards. Anything damaged after delivery by use, moisture or a drop, which we will tell you about with photographs rather than simply refusing.
