FAQ

Buying

How do purchases work?

Everything on this site that shows a price can be bought right now. Nothing here sits in a warehouse waiting for you. If a new item is here when you order, it goes out within two business days. If it is not, we order it from the manufacturer the day you order it, and it ships to you the day it reaches us. That is usually inside two weeks and always inside thirty days. If it is going to take longer than thirty days you hear from us before those thirty days are up, with a real date rather than an optimistic one, and you can wait or cancel for a full refund. Used guitars, basses, amps and drums are pickup only for now, and each listing says so. You have thirty days from delivery, or from pickup, to return new, used and consigned gear. Made to order cables are final sale, and the refund policy has the rest.

What do you actually stock?

Anything on the site with a price and a buy button. If you want something from one of those lines that is not listed, ask, and we will tell you whether we can get it. Used and consigned gear is one of each, graded and photographed before it goes up, and what is listed is what is there.

What if you write about something you cannot sell?

We tell you where to go and buy it.

Can you help me choose?

Tell us your budget, your space, and what you listen to, and we will put a system together for you. Email us directly. The person answering has been in professional audio since 1997.

What about shipping and returns?

Some orders leave Livingston, some ship straight from the maker, and returns come back to us either way. The short version is on the Shipping and Returns pages.

The site and the room

What is the listening room?

A converted recording studio on the third floor of an old school building in Livingston, Montana, where gear gets evaluated: long sessions, familiar records, notes taken. It is open by appointment, it is free, and you can bring your own records.

Can I come and see it?

Yes. Free River Studios, 215 E. Lewis St #301, Livingston. Email us and we will find an hour.

Do you sell records?

Yes. New records are on the records shelf.
