A Tribe Called Quest's second album, released by Jive in September 1991 and recorded mostly at Battery Studios in New York. Q-Tip produced most of it from bass lines, drum breaks and jazz samples, and Bob Power mixed it. Ron Carter plays double bass on "Verses from the Abstract", on the condition that the group avoided profanity. It entered the National Recording Registry in 2022.
